CD/DVD drive Recognizes CDs but not DVDs

    I have an HP with both CD & DVD/RW drives.
    They recognize CDs but no longer recognizes DVDs.
    I have Windows Media Player, ITunes, Roxio & WIN-DVD4 players.

    I tried updates & trouble-shooting to no avail.

    I'm at a lost.

    HELP!!!

    Very possible that your DVD Drive is dead.

    I had a drive with the same symptoms as you are reorting. Sony diagnostics said it was a defective drive.

    Had sony with the same problem the dvd worked for 8 months then just stopped but read cd until I got rid of the computer. Keep that one just for cd's if you want but you need anouther one for dvd's. No way around it
