I've searchd the threads, but havn't found something quite like this.

    Before i re-formatted Windows, i could format(CDRW), write(CDRW), whatever i wanted, with Nero 6 Ultra. I had a relatively new version.

I formatted, windows was going bonkers..

I had an earlier version of Nero when i reinstalled windows, and i installed it, everything went ok. I went to format the CDRW, it gave me a power calibration.

So, i read some of the threads...

well, i got Nero 6.3.1.17 (latest version), and i get a power calibration error when i go to format my cd

    from other threads, i also
    1) updated my firmware
    2) updated my nero 6 version
    3) went into device manager, and turned off a service..

and i still get this error. I've tried 12x, 10x, and 8x, and i still can't format. IT usually stops before it finishes, or it gets on 100% and just goes on until it times out. I can't figure this one out..

    Hi,

Power calibration errors are most often media related but can also be a hardware problem.

When you get this error is it with the same disc or have you tried several discs and recieved the same error?

I tried two different CD-RW's (both memorex)

now, i burned the MP3 CD on a CD-R, and it skipped.. could it possibly be a bad laser? i'm not trying to buy a $10 cleaning disc, and it not working.. those things are expensive here

Burners can be funny little buggers about what media they like so I'd suggest trying another brand and see if that doesn't clear things up :)

    What make/model drive is it?

Ask around for the best and you'll keep hearing the name Taiyo Yuden :)
