If you mean the LCD on the front panel then unplug the box from the mains, remove the lid & re-seat the ribbon cable in it's connector. If that doesn't wotk a new LCD is needed.

Do you get a green picture at the display or complete nothing.

    Hi mgb17
It's completely dark-pitch black! I had noticed over bthe last week or so that the lettering was getting out of focus and the light seemed dimmer than usual
    Is it easy to replace?

Unplug the box and unplug the LCD cable at the mainboard and clean the contacts at the cable.

Where is the LCD cable? Fekker said that I would hyave to open up the box
Does it really matter if the LCD functions or not? I've been told in a Private Mesage that it is quite common for it to break down and I shouldn't worry about it

It doesnt matter if it is working or not, in fact I have thought of disconnecting mine so more power should go to the TV tuner.

If you open up the box (unplugged of course), then you will see a ribbon cable coming from the LCD to the main board. This will easily come out, then clean the contacts at the end and put it firmly back in. The sagems are terrible for getting broken in the post, I think every single on I got had a broken card reader in the post, and one had no LCD working, but just needed to be reseated.

An oxide link, similar to rusting can develop on the contacts of electronics, this can cause them to give poor connections and not work.

While you have it open you may as well disconnect the modem and card readers from the main board

ruprect- Thank you very much for that very helpful advice. The problem is that if I open my Sagem box, I lose my warranty!
