I m getting a camcoder but what system or tecnhcnics to choose?

Is AVCHD (SD-card or HARDDISK) packing to-day as good as DV-format? The price and quality should be just good non- professional, around 1000 euros. I*d like to edit somewhat my videos, not only shooting and seeing.
I appreciate also good quality in sound, like to use a separate microphone.

What mark is good and reliable?

    Thanks!

From what I have read, AVCHD isn't ready for prime time, yet. Most video programs choke, and the quality isn't what it should be yet.

I am going to wait a few years, before getting such a camcorder. For now, nothing beats miniDV tape for quality.

Could you please tell some more.

What further qualities are you most expecting?
I see the total pixels in Canon HF 10/100 are ca 3.3 and effective one ca. 2.00. plus foto 2.8. Can you find the difference on video quality compared with for instance Sony sr-11.

    Thanks!
