If everyone got their old boxes working all the time then there wouldn't be any point in selling new ones. It's in the manufacturers best interests not to supply software upgrades that circumvent protection routines (and probably against the law).

Remember, it is not illegal to sell or own a box but it is to use it in order to get free cable tv >)

 

Hi vardrus just a little bit confuesd can you confirm the offical firmware fix for the max v on ch***s

 

The whole point of this argument is that the Sunrise fix will not brick your box & Sunrise would not have issued a fix if an official fix had been released quick enough. The reason he probably released a Chorus fix is because he probably got a lot of requests from Chorus users who thought they had been forgotten about.

 

Yes the official software if for Ch***s.

I updated my own box with the official 19/04/08 firmware & I am having a lot of problems with the box freezing & pixalating, I am on NTL in Dublin BTW. Is anybody else having similar problems ? I am going back to the 10/04/08 firmware it seems to be a lot more stable & I want to enjoy the fight after forcing myself to stay awake so late lol.

P.S. I think that these f*****g boxes are turning me into a complete nerd posting on internet forums at 1:00 am on a Saturday night. Is anybody else experiencing similar problems ?

 

How come you are not going back to the hacked software you have spent most of this thread praising. Or have I finally persuaded you?

 

Because I am on NTL in Dublin & the hacked software is for Chorus. If I was on Chorus & the official software was freezing & pixalating I would have no problem using the hacked software if it was the only working software available.

 

Indeed but I'd prefer a box that was pixellating than a doorstop.

 

But the hacked software wont brick the boxes thats the whole point. BTW why cant the official programmers write software that does not have problems freezing & pixalating when the hackers can ? If they could do this I would much prefer to use the official software as it seems to update the codes much quicker when there is a key change.

 

Thanks guys ! I have now counted 5 keyrolls by Ch*us so far during this afternoon's Manchester City match and they have each been picked up within a minute by the new firmware.

 

manplusva, Are you using the official 18/04/08 firmware on Chorus ? And if so is it freezing & pixalating a bit or is it OK ? Please let us know.

 

The keys just rolled again on N*L in Dublin at 5:50 pm & the official software updated after 1 min 10 Seconds which isnt bad.

 

Yes, I am using the official firmware fix dated 18.4.08 and the picture quality is great (no pixelating or any other problems noted). I simply dropped it onto a box that had previously had the 10.4.08 fix installed, and it updated the keys and started working straightaway. I didn't even have to reload my cdf file.

Hi Everyone, just thought Id post as I have been watching for weeks( particularly after the recent keys problems) I am on N*L in Clane and the new updated software (18.04.08)is working very well for me and had little difficulty installing it thanks to the help available on this forum.

PS Would it not make updating the various boxes a little easier if the update could be carried out by a USB connection ( is there a particular reason for the RS232 cable?

 

You can use a usb to serial adaptor available from maplin(at a price)and the null modem cable.
