I recently installed a new toshiba sd-r5372 burner. it is supposed to burn at 16x. I replaced a toshiba sd-r5272 8x burner. I never had problems burning 8x +r verbatim disc with the the old burner. The new burner will not burn the verbatim 8x +r disc. It starts to burn and at about 6% it ejects the disc an says bad media every time.(thus making a nice coaster) It only does this with 8x disc. 16x disc run ok. Clone dvd2 the new burner and 8x disc give me the bad media error at 6%. I tried dvd shrink and nero6 with 8x +r disc and was successful. I believe the problem is with clone dvd2 an the new drive. Does anyone know of a solution for this problem so I can use clonedvd2 8x +r disc and my new burner?

    Hi cmpsr
Are you using the latest CloneDVD - 2.8.9.9? If not update to that one.
Make sure the new drives fimrware is up to date - the latest is TU56.
    Here's a link if needed:

What burn speed are you using in Clone? How about Nero?
Clone is usually more trouble free than Nero :)

I tried speed settings of 8x and maximum with clone dvd2. nero is set to maximum. I had already updated the drive to the tu56 firm ware. I still can not burn the verbatim 8x +r disc without getting the error at 6%.

try uninstalling and doing a clean reinstall of clonedvd 2 meaning clean your registry ,doing a disc cleanup and defragging then reboot and reinstall clonedvd 2.

your burner maybe like Verbatim you might try Taiyo Yuden media also try burning at 4x
