Clone or not?

    sorry i posted new thread just in case this one was not seen. I have done what you said but it displays "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". wonder what i'm fuckin up

    You do not need to open the api file , Just open the GT ROM Loader and make sure api only is ticked , then locate the V4 file you downloaded to your pc and click on "Download" and wait till its 100 % complete and then the SV will reboot

    ok. im opening the GTRomv.4.00 file. serial com port 1. Baudrate 115200. STB Model GCR 3510 and then i go to bin file and click the starview firmware file i downloaded. App is ticked. It says "the system cannot find the file specified".

    Make sure you have the gtromloader and the firmware file in the same folder on your pc.

    i just put em on the desktop. should i move em?

    Delete the old ones and start fresh
    Make a SV folder in your documents and download the 2 files again from the link in my post

    Try change to COM2 , COM3 COM4 etc and see if any of them work

    tried already. the firmware file is not found. if i try to open it on its own i get a "open with web or program from list" option.

    DO NOT open the api file on its own .

    Did you download the GT ROM Loader from Eamos site ?

    Ok Right click on "My Computer" and click properties . Click the "Hardware" tab and go to "Device Manager" and see if you have any yellow Exclaimation marks !

    Best bet is to download the Starview PDF Guide from Celt's link. You will find it in the Starview Documentation File of this link.

    This will show you a visual guide on what to do, if that doesnt work, Celt can go through other options with you then.

    i have that guide. no yellow exclamations. mentions extracting with winrar. will try. thanks for help

    Ok , you will need Win Rar to extract the file , you can also get this on Eamos Site

    When you went into device manager , did you look in Ports( COM & LTP ) , what have you got there ?

    Thismight be the problem cos you are doing this from a laptap ?

    prolific usb to serial bridge(com7) is what i have.

    should i delete the files again?

    Hold onto the files for now

    The problem seems to be your laptop , Im not sure about COM7 port , Sorry I cant help you anymore and hope someone with more knowledge can take over.

    Can you get access to a PC and try it ?

    i have another laptop beside me. i'll try that. there is a pc in the main house but i've been very ill the last few days so that may have to wait if this doesn't work. thanks for the help and advice.
