Clone or not?

    strange. i have four usb ports. they show as ports 6,7,8 & 9 as i try the cable in each port. maybe if i just order a 9 pin converter because i have a 9 pin fem port i the laptop and a dual 9 pin male port (if they exist) might solve the problem. then again it might show as port 5 or 10 !!

    I would try it from the PC first and see if it works

    I got it to work :) the reason it wasn't working at first was because my main laptop showed coms ports from 6 to 9. I tried my other laptop (which is funnily a far cheaper model) and the USB connection was com 4 which allowed me to upgrade to V4. Thanks so much for the effort guys. in the end it was all worth the frustration. now i can sort my channels as i choose without the worry of resetting the box every time the codes change.

    im sure my experience will add to the wealth of knowledge available on this site.
