Cloned Starview Fix 11/04/2008

looking at my s***v**w box from the rear it tells me CLONE
looking at my remote it tells me CLONE
but it has 7 x 13 slots on the top. i,m well confused.its running,
api ver 2.57e_E
boot ver 7.0
16 aug 2006.

could a senior member please let me know if i(as i expect) have a clone or not.so i can figure out if this new clone fix is for me.

Look down through the grill you will see the main processor if the heatshink on top is spiky to look at you have a clone if it has straight lines it is a genuine box.

The heatshink is a dead giveaway.

Yes it works and has come from a well respected member of the community. So your box will be safe.

hi scOuser is it CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin is for clone sv's and is it grom loader the the software i use and which version i just wana be sure cos ill be puttin it on a few of my customers boxes

 

Sean yes that is the clone firmware and just use Gtrom v4.00 as usual.

i just removed cover and seen its a spikey-ish heatsink and its gold but also noticed the chip to the left of cpu is a samsung wich confuses me more.the writing below it is only 2 lines as an original should be and the power board has the 3 spaces where a capacitors could go.as in original.but a spikey gold coloured heatsink.any ideas ?

Have downloaded new software for my clone box. Is there any difference between a Null Modem Cable and an RS232 Null Modem Cable??? Or do they both do the same thing?? Which do I use to flash my box???

but when i load the new update i was told to load the new auto roll

1.4core257

when i did this it work but when i press menu and see what vpe its running on it say 257ee NOT 4.00EE ANY MORE


is this right or do i load the 1.4core400

Here's something I posted in another thread, please read carefully;

Just a word of advice to all those who have a starview that looks like a clone, but has 3.00 or 4.00 firmware loaded.

I took a copy of the 2.57eE_FIXED firmware, and changed it, don't worry, I only did this at home as a test. It was changed to report the version as 5.00, and had a release date of 18 Apr 2008.

I loaded it to the SV, went into System Info, and guess what, it showed up as exactly that, ver. 5.00 and date as 18 Apr 2008.

Now, imagine I am a seller of clone boxes, and the word is out that clones cannot have the latest firmware releases, 3.00 and 4.00. What am I going to do? I know, I'll modify the clone safe firmware so that it looks exactly the same as the genuine firmware when someone looks at the System Information in the menu.

Just be aware that this may be what has happened with your box. I don't know if this has been reported anywhere, but as in the bit above, if I was a clone seller, the game would have been up, so guess what I would have done.

Just be very careful what firmware you put on your starview.

I'm not trying to be a scaremonger, and as stated before, I don't sell boxes of any description, so I have nothing to gain. I just don't want people killing their boxes.

are you sure i load the 1.4core257 in my box that was running on 4.00ee june 2007 and its 100% clone but running on 4.00ee

that mean as you say me to load the update file call 1.4core257

is this right


what will the box be running on after this update
