make sure you have the program on the right drive ,give it about 40 to 50 seconds to read the disc first then ID it
sorry after i restarted the comp.am i suppose to look up the manufacture or is it just to know who it is? how can i check about the dvd that i backed up ie: the quality of the burn and if there are any errors? one last thing it read that my burner is a 8x that's funny cause it has a big old stamp saying it's a 16x,i guess this means iv been burning at a 8x the whole time....
Polo... Most who think they're burning at 16x are only burning at 8x... And this only if you burn from your harddrive... Burning from Dvd drive to Dvd drive usually gets you no more than 4x results about 16 minutes per 4.7gig disc... That's using 4x, 8x, or 16x media... The same burn from your harddrive would take 8 minutes at 8x speed... Does anyone out there get 16x speed or 4 minutes for an entire 4.7gig disc???
@Bootzy, This is a moot point, I know of noboby that has any experience that would burn ANY media at Max speed. I have a 16x burner & use 16x Verbatims. I burn them at 8x. Get Great Results too! As a General Rule, it's Best to burn media at 1/2 it's rated burn speed. Many here will agree.
My point was, most who think they're burning at max 16x speed, are not. I didn't ask for advice... I simply asked if anyone out there CAN burn 4.7gigs in 4 minutes??? Because I can't !!! But now I'm annoyed by this silly little "we don't burn at max speed around here mentality"....... That's fine, but it wasn't the question. Novice that I am.... I'll just take my 3,000 plus back ups to less anal waters and do something fun like jet ski with the spare time I have burning at whatever speed I damn well please thank you very much!
Bootzy ,dude lose the attuide man ,we dont read minds here ,we try to put good info out there for everyone
I am still having problems. I bought a whole 100 spindle of Verbatim DVD+Rs. I burned about 16 of them with different movies and different write speed. From 2x -16x with no luck. They always start skipping right around the 30-45min. mark even with 100% dvds in clonedvd2. I tried them in 2 different dvd players with same results. The funny thing is I can stop the movie once it starts skipping so bad you lose parts of the movie and restart it in the same spot it started skipping and it will play fine for about 5-10 minutes.. I called both Verbatim and also Maddog (my 16X burner) and both told me to buy a different brand of media to rule out the other. Either bad media or bad dvd burner. Which does it sound like to you guys? Anything else I should try. Never had this problem before...
try Taiyo Yuden media and burn at 4x ,if you still have the problem its the burner ,also booktype your DVD+R to DVD-ROM
AABBCCDD... Dude, with all due respect, of course you don't read minds, I'm wondering if you read my post. I was responding to Polo, who thought he was burning at 16x only to find it was 8x... I then asked if anyone out there got true 16x, 4 minute performance??? BunnyRip replied: many here will agree that experianced burners don't burn at max speed...... how friendly is that??? You AABBCCDD did answer the question, sort of.... but in the same breath you made sure we all know once again (because it need be made perfectly clear) that you could never, ever, burn above 8x.... It's as if they'll kick you off the island if you do... (that's my beef)...
you can burn at 16x be my guess ,all iam saying is its risky ,a few minutes to get perfect results everytime burning at a slower speed is worth it to most in here and makes more sence
Hi Moderator Ireland... I don't know how this happened... But I'll try again... AABBCCDD, I burn at 8x... I'm happy with 8x... Now, without suggesting what is or is not a good idea, could you please answer this question... When you did burn at 16x speed, did it take about 4 minutes??? That's all I'm asking...
Let me rephrase my answer bootzy, Yes, I accidentally burned one of my 16x DVD+R Verbs at 16x, The time was about 4 mins. to BURN it. The results were not very good, lot's of errors. During playback. That's why I burn at 8x or 1/2 speed. I hope this satisfactorily answers your question. edited for typo. ooops.
Yes it took about 4 mintues (on Taiyo Yuden media)and actually the disc scanned out fine BUT i have a really good machine per my sig.and I dont make it a habit
@Bootzy I burned some with DVD Cloner II at max speed 16x as well. They took approx 4 minutes. I got video and no audio at all.
you can get them at supermediastore.com ,meritline.com or rima.com or at the store get FujiFilm DVD+R 8X or Sony DVD+R 8x and make sure there (Made In Japan) these will code out as Taiyo Yuden
sorry, i was a little crude or rude for this post to happen so just changed it. hope you all have a good day
