yep, pci also had lots of cards fighting for bandwidth which AGP didnt. And i could list lots of other crappy things about pci graphic's cards. : )
By the way...I noticed you guys thought I was a guy, well, I'm a girl. You guys are so confident with your advice I think I'll spend the extra $40 and get myself the 5200. Thanks
That's okay, I just didn't want to be called a guy. My first name is actually Kinza but you can't really tell since it's foreign. Now this is going to get off topic but oh well. I was wondering what the benefits of building a PC are. I see some computers at great prices that would be cheaper per feature than how much I can build it for. I'm just a tiny bit double-minded.
If your talking about building a comp- Pros are you can save alot of money (and it can be fun), Cons if you buy OEM goods you sometimes dont get manuals and software that you would get with retail stuff. If something goes wrong you also really need to know what your doing or have a friend who does because you cant just take it bact to the shop.
no but clone has more upgrade availability then a name brand system & you get some experience building it too!!
I am definately building for the experience. Can you recommend any websites for computer parts? I already known Newegg which looks like a great website.
kinza I watch Newegg.com, MWave.com and also any stores that have sales for items to purchase. Keep in mind that you will also have to purchase Windows OS if that's the way you are leaning which can cost a bit. If you are a Teacher or Student you can get great deals with Newegg.com on MS upgrades for OS and also Office, etc. For example I purchased Windows XP Professional for under $90 as an upgrade with Academic/Student pricing. Once it recognized a Windows 98 CD, I just did a full install, no upgrade required.
i wouldnt worry too much about buying an OS, how can i say this....there are 'options' open to you when getting a hold of any software - including windows.
are sp1 and sp2 really needed? i bought a video capture card before and had to return because it wouldn't work with windows xp even though it was a windows xp certified product.
go with sp1 if able to get sp2 get it but not install it till you are familiar with xp than maybe put sp2 on.
Look here for a nice card. I have one & have rivatuned it to 16 pixel pipelines. Only the Gainward, I am led to believe, will do this. Not all, but about 70 odd percent. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=75002
that's out of my budget pulsar, but thanks. i won't need an expensive video card because i don't do any gaming.
