I hope I'm posting in the right area here. When using your computer hdd etc , I know that you can use software such as DVD Shrink to compress a slightly overlarge Title so as to fit a DVD+r. In my case, I'm using a stand alone VHS Recorder to transfer to a DVD HDD (160 GB)Recorder. Is there some way I can make an over two hour title fit a 4.7GB Dvd+r or is my only option to use 'Double Layer'?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

You will have to read the manual for your device.
It possible it offers more time at the expense of less quality. ("ep" mode or similar)

Thank you Dave. You're right of course and I should have mentioned that I realize I can opt for longer play but I'd rather not do that if I can help it. So there's nothing for it except Double Layer then?
