    Hi all,
I have a sony vaio laptop and it is VERY slow to boot. I have the bare minimum for startup programs, so that isn't the problem. A few months back it was exceptionally fast to boot up, and then all of a sudden it was exceptionally slow to boot. I can't remember doing changing anything or installing any new programs before it started booting up, so I don't think the problem lies in a freshly installed program either. Does anyone have any ideas that might help me get the stupid thing booting faster? It is some sort of hardware failure? Thanks in advance! :)

Most likely your infected with malware. Run a good virus scan and get some ad removing programs (such as Ad-Aware and SpyBot).

I use ad-aware, spybot, NOD32, and RKR on a regular basis and they havn't found any problems. I think the problem might be a failing harddrive.
