Computer keeps hanging on conversion

    Everytime I try to convert an .avi file, my computer turns off. I have tried Cucusoft, FlaskMPEG, and TMPGEnc. I have an HP 500MHz processor. Is this the problem, or am I missing something?

    Your processor may well be the problem. It takes up quote a lot of system resources when re-encoding. How much RAM have you got?

    I think 96MB
    It says Installed Memory: 96MB
    Memory Bank 0: 64MB SDRAM
    Memory Bank 1: 32MB SDRAM
    Cache Ram: 128 KB
    Video Boot Type Onboard: Video 1MB

    On Computer Docs: Up to 11MB Video Memory

    If this is the problem, please make suggestions for upgrade. Thanks for all the help.
