Quite possibly, you have a Vundo infection. Download and run VundoFix. It should make a log on your desktop, copy and paste that log in the reply. Also, as another precaution, rename HijackThis to some jibberish name such as oewaruh.exe. If you have an antivirus scanner, make sure to always keep it active. If not, I recommend AVG Free Edition or Avira AntiVir. Run it when you install it. You also need a firewall. Comodo is excellent for a completely free firewall. Now then, as for the lag. Try a Disk Cleanup (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup) and a Defragmentation (same path, except with Disk Defragmenter instead of Disk Cleanup. Sometimes the quickest way is to take the long route,assuming you try everything like fix malware,viruses,defrag,cache clean,registry clean but it still does'nt perform then you're best bet is a full reformat but this time have a look at the link i've provided,if possable after a reformatt etc get another hdd and make an image with only the basic of apps installed and keep it for fast re-imaging when things slow down again,it'll only take an hour to make a disk image of 100GB's of data and transfer the data back http://blogs.zdnet.com/storage/?p=120&tag=nl.e539
