Does it tell you what file is missing? You should be able to get it from somewhere is it does.

What do you have for recovery?

Do you have a windows disk or know someone with the same version of windows you could borrow?

i have asked around and none of my mates or relatives have a windows xp setup disk.
When i turn my computer on, a black screen appears and with this message:
'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this files by starting Windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.'

SO could anyone help me please
