confused

    hi everyone,i hope you can help me.
    i have an apple powerbook g4 laptop,and i am seriosly thinking of buying a dvd-rw from amacom tech,its the baby dvd-rw[portable]for £350.
    i'm wanting to back up my movies,will it let me do this.do i have to rip etc.

    so what i'm asking is can anyone tell me the procedure to get the right software etc.
    oh and the os is osx.

    if you read the last few pages you'll get a good idea, but in the end you need to know that the job can be done at no cost or you can pay for programs to add convenience. I have'nt paid for anything except toast and i had that before i got my dvd burner
