connecting 3 ide cd/dvd drives to 1 motherboard

    please i need help connecting 3 cd/dvd drives to one motherboard via an ide connection... as i can not use any ide to sata cables because all my sata connections are full.. thanks

    Hi,

    unfortunately, you cant do it. An IDE port will accept up to 2x IDE devices in master / slave configuration. You could always purchase an extra IDE controller like this one.

    The only other thing to do is to purchase an external case for the extra optical drive like this, but be aware you will not achieve the speeds you would if it was connected to the IDE port.

    huggster, can't put 3 ide devices on 1 cable as ide is not setup up for that. if it was scsi drives then can put at least 6 drives on 1 cable. go with a pci ide controller card like what phill linked to.
