connecting ethernet PC to a router

    hey guys i just got a CPU (pretty old one) which has a ethernet port only, no LAN ports. So now i dont know how to connect my CPU to my Dlink wireless router (or i cant). I need a wireless as i have a laptop.

    the ethernet port is your lan port. so can run straight thru cable from router to pc. if want wireless than have to get a wireless pci card or wireless usb adapter.

    oh ok....but i did try that but nothing happend. OS is Windows Millenium (i know its freaking old).......is there any setting i gotta change??

    do not post problems in peoples' shout boxes as that is a nono & can get you banned. is the network card seen properly by me? what windows is on the laptop? did you go thru the dlink maunual to configure the router as sometimes you have to? shutdown the computers, router & modem & disconnect the coax/telephone cable for 30secs. repower up all devices starting with modem plus reconnect the coax/telephone cable to modem.

    really sorry for that......ok ill try that.......Laptop has Windows XP OS. No i didnt go through the manual. ill do that and let you know if it works or not.
