controling desktop through linux?

    is there a program or somehow i can control my windows computer with a linux computer like a virtual desktop type program?

    i use 'rdesktop' in Mandriva and PCLinuxOS 2007, to get at my office windows PC. Sometimes i need to remotely access stuff in the office via the Windows PC from another site and it works pretty well. rdesktop crashes now and then but restarts ok

    well i just ended up using vnc and i got a server set up on my windows comp but b4 i put a viewer on the linux one when i log onto the windows comp through the viewer is it gunna control the mouse of the current user if somebodies already on the comp or will it do a virtual desktop where it does'nt mess with the person already on the comp?
