Controller Mods of the wireless into the wired

Hey all. I want to mod a wireless controller into a wired one. I want to know if the body [minus the wireless battery contacts] would fit the same way into a wired controller. and if there would be space for aaa rechargeables. I know I can do this by taking out the rumble motors, but I don't really want to do that. So any help in the research before shelling out for a wired would help. Thanks in advanced.

Note: I want to do this because the controller is smaller in the back.
