hi avi mux doesnt change quailty... i always put the avi's through this app first to check sync... to check if there is a sync issue load avi in, then click the long button below (generate datasource from files) it will hten load info to bottom window. click audio line, and to your left you will see the MS delay box, if it has a 0 then the sync is ok, if it has anything else like 44 whatever then, sync out. you just click START button to make new file with corrected sync... to join 2 avi load both to top window, highlight both then click (generate datasource from files) this loads both avi to bottom window then click start again makes new single avi. as a rule of thumb this app isnt perfect! so i play the avi to see if the sync is really out first...
Thanks. But, I'm still a bit confused. Do you put the avi thru AVI-MUX GUI no matter what? Or is what you're saying is that if the sync is 44 (possibly), it's not necessarily out but, to check it first?
I also don't understand what you mean when you say 'join 2 avi' and then make a single avi. Do you mean 2 movies in avi format?
i put file in to check sync on every avi file i get!!! may not run it through it as snyc may be ok? if it isnt then yes i run it through the app to correct it... and yes before dropping the file to avi mux i play the file on my pc to see if theres any sync issues aswell... the above is so i dont waste 2 hours encoding to find sync was out and i could of correcte it before hand... i get lots and lots of avi so this has saved me lots of time... ------------ sometimes i have avi's that are in 2 parts to make 1 film, well i join both parts to make 1 avi (and correct sync well jioning - if needed also!)
Rotary, one more question and I'll leave you alone for awhile. What speed do you burn at? Thanks again for all your help!
I have a 16x burner and am using 8x disks. I thought I heard that you burn at half the speed of your burner or, is it half the speed of the disks?
i've been an 8x man for the longest time, though if a machine is heavily defragmented i'll do 4x. Rotary, just trying out The Film Machine now to do an AVI that's in 2 parts so am hoping TFM will join it as advertised (using it with CCE SP2), you bent my arm
I burn my 8X media at 8X and my 16X media at 12X...excellent results all around, however I typically use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim and I've had the same results using Memorex, Maxell and TDK. I don't recommend the last three for everyone though.
I have been burning at 8x with Sony DVD-R's. Had some sync issues. So, switched to TY-2 8x. Also, put the avi's I had sync problems with thru AVI-MUX GUI. AVI-MUX GUI didn't show any problems. Which brings me to my next question. The sync issue is resolved since using TY's but, the picture doesn't seem as sharp to me - kind of fuzzy around the edges. Or, is it all in my head?
the one thing that is in your head is one type of discs having sync problems and one not having sync problems - the problems lie elsewhere
Actually, I wasted 3 disks (Sony) on the same movie. I guess I made a mistake. It wasn't a sync problem with them - it kept freezing in the same place. But, when I used a TY, it didn't freeze.
[re the tickbox in convertxtodvd titled "don't check/fix audio discontinuities" - that this should be left unticked.] Another question for Creaky! The box that is just above this one asks if the sound should be adjusted automatically. Should this box be checked or unchecked? My pointer is just under half. Where should it be?
Rotary is much better placed to comment on all things AVI related as he's an AVI nutter and i've never done too much AVI stuff until recently... however.. ..i always read that it's better to leave the "don't check/fix audio discontinuities" unticked so i leave it unticked personally, and i never mess with the auto audio adjustment tickbox either; as i say Rotary will be along and correct me if necessary, he knows his AVI's
So, you leave the auto audio adjustment tickbox unchecked as well? Where is your slider placed? I shall also wait for Rotary to remark as well. Thank you.
it's possible i should be ticking the auto audio box, just never bothered testing it, and my slider is in the default position ie almost half way along
hi i leave that page unticked and the slider in the default (16 marks up scale) if the avi is lound enough after converting then no probs... i do get the odd avi thas abit low (but if you check avi before encode) by playing file you can tell... ============================================================== creaky with TFM tick DSROBA (4 passes of cce in 1, 3 fly bys and a main 1) - audio boost tick boost to
Hi Rotary, I have an avi that the sync is out. In AVI-MUX GUI MS delay box, it indicates 576. When I click on start, i don't know what to do. It asks for a file name in 'Save As'. The type is an 'avi' or 'matroska'. Thank you in advance.
