I'm new at this and you have probably answered this questions many times, but here goes. I was able to burn a home movie DVD to my harddrive but the Pinnacle software that I'm using can't read the VOB files. How do I convert VOB files that I downloaded from a DVD Camcorder into AVI files that I can edit?

Hello, I have a problem and I am lost. I used Winavi to covert an avi to vob, and it worked great. The original file was 1.37 gigs and converted into the size of 2.73. My problem lies in Nero when I try to burn it. When Nero opens I click on "Burn Dvd video files" and then I proceed to add the file. However it doesn't add it and gives me this exact message. " The file VTS_01_1.VOB is larger than 2 GB and therefore cannot be stored in an Iso file system. Please use the UDF file system to write such large files. This can be done by selecting another compilation type"

I don't get this message at all. I looked around the Nero, program discovering many things.. like I can make labels etc, but didn't find any answer to this Udf thing, or compliations. Is my file to big or something ? Can someone please tell why I am unable to add this file so, So I can burn it.

Ps: sorry if this question is stupid, but I got my dvd burner last night and have been fidgeting with it, since- thx to these guides I was able to burn my games and backup some others as well as rip some of my DVD's.

if you cant burn with nero i got some solutions.if you have dvd decrypter you can select write then select IFO and burn.there;s another program that converts and burns.download vso divxtodvd and it should come with copytodvd.these 2 programs convert and burn really well.never a disappointment nero is just too much of a problem/

Regarding the VSO program: I don't believe it workes with Win 98 and Nero doesn't like just about any other program on it. I tried to use Blaze Media Pro on my newer (XP) computer and somehow it changed all my video and music files so they couldn't be read (by Nero, in the video files examples). Fortunatley, I could do a System Restore and get my files to work. So, unfortunatley, for me, BMP will not be an ooption. If I could just get a converter to do what I want on the old computer, that'd be better. Nero's a good program, but it's s pain to work with any other one that has a burn function.

    Hi there,

I have a bunch of tv episodes that I want to put on dvd, each episode is a little under 250mb and is encoded in xvid. I figured I'd be able to pop them on a dvd pretty easily, but when I used my "myDVD" program when I added 1 episode it took up almost the entire dvd, max I could get 1 1/2 episodes on one dvd.

My question is what format should I be using to put them on a dvd so that I can fit 8-10 episodes on a disc and it will be playable in standard dvd players . Here are the details for an episode:

    Width: 576 pix
    Height: 432 pix
    Duration: 28:14
    Bit Rate: 115kbps
    Audio: MPEG Layer-3
    Frame rate: 29 frames/second
    Data rate: 140kbps
    video sample size: 12 bit
    video compression: XVID

is there an easy way to transcode these? should I be using the program mentioned on the first page of this thread?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

hey does anyone know what format a downloaded movie (from bitcomet) should be in so that it can be played on a dvd player (using nero). I used nero, and from nero express cuz i heard it converts it automatically because its an authoring tool, but when it was done burning, the movie worked on my computers, but not on my dvd player.

if you download a movie it is either .avi or .mpg so you have to convert it so i would use vso divxtodvd to convert and copytodvd to burn.

does that address the fps question, though? I've gotten the impression that it doesn't.

I should add that I've had no problems burning an avi to Nero, but as you can see from my previous posts, I'm happy with the results.

As for why you can't see it on your computer, could it be you just copied the file and didn't actually burn it to an mpeg2 DVD?

    hi guys

    answering on your questions.

first the fomrat should be ntsc or pal depend on your country..second..it should be 720x480(ntsc) or 720x576(pal)
48 khz for ntsc or 44 khz for pal
the format should be mpeg2 in the 2 ways.

if you burn directly the original file from avi(xvid, divx) it won't play on all dvd player till you transform the format to 720x480.

about copying directly on nero..it didn't work well for me...the movie was blinding alittle bit..it's better to convert to mpeg2 first than burn it.

to convert you can choose program like(mainconcept) and to burn there is alot of progs (dvdlab pro, nero, studio 9, etc)

i'm ready to answer more question..i hope it will work

Hey, I have recently downloaded a movie. When I open the folder i saved it in, about 30 xvid files appear. I tried converting these xvid files to divx via avi 4cc editor but when i clicked on a file it said erro: not an avi file. Im totally confused. Can I open this movie and watch it? If so how? And can i burn it to a Dvd, and how? If anyone has any information that can help me, please post it! Thanks

Try DivxtoDVD, I mostly use it and have had very few problems-basically, if it can't convert it nothing can.

    HI,
I have been using dvd santa and win avi video converter with no real problems. The problem i think i am having is with the NTSC and PAL standards. I assume when you convert an AVI you have to know what the AVI is either NTSC or PAL. When i convert picture and sound are fine but the frame rate is either sluggish(slow) or kinda fast?
I am living in Ireland so are standard is PAL so my question is do i just convert all AVI's, Divx and Xvid to Pal or do i need to check wether the AVI is NTSC or PAl? Hope i havent made this confusing but this has been really annoying me.
    Many thanks
    Brian.

divxtodvd can convert from pal to ntsc or from ntsc to pal. our next version will do it with even more control, you can try if it works for you.
