Thanks Octopi,.I tried mainconcept and it works good and very fast. I am still having troubles with some movies tho, some .avi some divx and some xvid. I have tried using MainConcept, DvdSanta, DVD Decryptor, DVD Shrink,When trying to load the movie file for burning, I get an error message saying either "No video data can be found" or "unable to open such and such file"
Any suggestions ? I have gotten some movies to burn using Main concept that no other siftware would burn, and have tried using Decryptor to open it or covert it to an iso image file,..but that won't work either because it won't load the movie file.

Hey guys, ive got a mpeg4 and I want to convert it to DVD, however when opening up ConvertXToDVD the file size of the DVD is 7GB and I want to try and fit it onto a DVD5. Is there any program that can allow me to put it onto a DVD5 without losing too much quality?

hey Sick,..I don't know much about mpeg4 and dvd5 etc. but I use dvd shrink to shrink dvd's to fit blank dvd's. It basically just takes the previews, menu and extra features off the original dvd and burns just the movie onto the blank dvd without losing quality.
    Hope it works for ya.

Goochee,..you can find most any software for free on Shareaza. I have used many P2P networks for music, movies and software and have had the best luck with Shareaza,..no adware etc. Of course you have to becareful with viruses downloading any files on a P2P network, but with the right precautions,.I have had no troubles at all finding any software or movies etc.

Or you could do the right thing by buying the software and therefore support the software makers so guys like me can rest assured they'll be in business to make future versions.

Would there be a need for a thread like this if everyone was out doing the "right" thing and buying the software and dvd's and music ?
Of course there would, cause I am sure everyone here is only making "back up" copies,..incase the original gets "scratched". (?)lol
    -Just keepin it real

Just so you know you've been formally warned to stop recommending pirated software in our forums.

I resent be called a crook! I use this site to learn to use my programs I have paid for, take advantage of the great free programs as we are not all rich and thankfull for all the help we can get.
Plain and simple talk. Also, one can get feed back and possible solutions to problems with out threat to the software vender. I have found out more about my programs I have purchased here than the complected manual that comes with the program... Some of us need straight talk, advice and just a little understanding with a problem. Thank you AfterDawn and everyone here for your most welcome advise and solutions to lots of head aches. arnold2

Almost for got to add I never use my original DVD buy it back it and put it up. If you lost as many DVDs as I have you would do the same.
I have three little ones that think they can do what ever you do.
Hummm lets see oh yeah buy 5 or 6 of the same movie, duh.

Ok Arnold,..first of all I did not call you or anyone else specifically a thief. I was just keepin it real. Real as in,..90 % of the people on here asking questions about how to burn dvd's or to encrypt them or shrink them, are NOT doing it to make back up copies.
As the title of this thread "Convert AVI, Xvid, Divx to DVD " suggests,.. no need to convert an AVI file to DVD if you have the DVD in the first place,..just copy it,..why converting ? Because the DVD you "bought" should already be in a dvd format,..not AVI. AVI is the format used in home PC's or online. And either way,..would it make much sense to go out and purchase DVD decryptor, DVD Shrink, and a DVD converter,..all at prices around $30.00 or more each just to make a "back up" copy of a dvd you purchased for $15.00 ??
Especially when a new converter or decryptor is needed all the time due to the changing in programming going into DVD's to stop piracy ?
If you are looking for info on backing up original copies,....a converting thread would not be the place to be looking for it.

I have been using the VSO program which converts DIVX to DVD and it works fine. The only problem is that it takes like 8 hours to actually convert it. Is it just mine or is it supposed to work this slow. Is there anything faster that I can use?

What are your system specs? Speed depends heavily on your hardware.

ConvertXtoDVD ( which is the newest DivXtoDVD ) is faster, but yes it is depending a lot of your hardware.

The divided by 0 error means that your source is corrupted and/or damaged. don't know about the Floating Point part. maybe some help.

It's like the other guy said-you probally have a damaged or improperly encoded file-If I can't convert it with the free version of VSODivxto dvd (very difficult to find) it can't be converted to dvd compliant mpeg2. Luckily this seems to be the minority of xvid/divx files I've downloaded.

I was told that I needed to install XviD codec. I downloaded the program and installed it. At this very moment it seems to be working. I will not know for some time because it appears to take about 1 1/2 hours to transcribe.

Thanks for your quick response and help!!
