I use AVI2DVD v1.76 to reencode broken video file to divx/xvid, but i run into problem, the source is 4:3, 480x480 and look something like this its like widescreen but with black bars above and below that are part of video image
    [IMG]
and when i save it, i either getting small square in center sorounded by black bars or full screen 4:3 when wathing it fuill screen, what i need is 16:9 wide screen, any idea how i can achieve it, what should i crop and what settings to use in codec and dvd2avi?

AVI2DVD can use AVISynth frame served files as input. AVISynth comes bundled with AVI2DVD, so it should already be installed. Here's what you do:
Create a new text document (use notepad).
In that text document, put the following

    # anything preceded by # is ignored by avisynth and can be deleted at will
directshowsource("ABCD.avi") #replace ABCD.avi with the full path and filename of your DivX/XviD.
    lanczosresize(480,360)
    crop(0,44,480,272)

Save the text doc, MAKE SURE YOU SAVE WITH AN EXTENSION OF .avs !! This is very important.

open the .avs in AVI2DVD and convert.
