I have recorded some home movies from VHS onto DVD-RW using Pioneer DVR-220. Now I want my movies in a single video file. Obviously the DVDs are not encrypted so is it necessary to rip them? I tried renaming a .vro ext to .mpg and it played fine in win media but said the 63-minute movie was only 6 mins. which was a mess when I tried to edit it in MPEG Video Wizard 2003. Surely there is a simple way to do this?

Try ripping the DVD useing "Smartripper" But go into the "Stream processing" setting and set it up so you rip the vro.Vob files as a seperate M2V video and AC3 audio files....
You should then be able to take the M2V file and the AC3 audio file and Put them on the Timeline in "Mpeg video Wizard 2003" and edit them without any problems....

    Cheers
