Can anyone suggest a guide or just give me instructions on how to convert VHS to DVD. What hardware and software to use.
    Thanks.

If you are just starting out, have lots of VHS tapes, take my advice: buy a DVD recorder. I've seen a 1st-generation Gateway DVD recorder for $150. Believe me, you'll thank me later. Otherwise, spend $500 upgrading your PC getting a new video capture card, a 2nd hard drive, additional RAM, video editing software. And this is assuming you have a Pentium 4 and USB 2.0 already. I've been there, and even expert experience won't save yo from the hours of rendering/compiling time per hour of video.
