I have been using Windows Media Player version 9 to copy CDs on to my computer. This format works OK for my MP3 player but my not the CD player in my car which will not play wma, only MP3s. Can someone tell me if there is any free software available to convert my wms files to mp3? ALternatively, is there a better ways to copy my music other than Windows Media Player? Thanks
yes PLEASE stop using WMP to rip your CDs...thats just horrible. The best ripper is EAC (exact audio copy)...its the only ripper to offer 100% error correction for accurate rips. When combined with the LAME plugin use VBR method you can create the best quality mp3s possible. We have a guide on how to install, setup, and use EAC here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/mydeneaclame.cfm For converting your WMAs to MP3s, well, I'd advise against it first off. You are taking a already compressed file and decoding it, then recompressing it. The net result is a major loss in quality. You're MUCH better off re-ripping your CD collection with EAC. But if you must, you can use dBPowerAMP to convert your music files from one format to another. Don't forget, you will probably have to install the WMA plugin for it. You can find it here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
Maybe you should take a look at this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/198131 AudioJack 2 is able to rip audio CDs and DVDs and to convert any audio format as well! Looks like it was your all-in-one tool! cu angelS111
