I dont mean to keep bumping my thread.. im just kinda thinking out loud, so-to-speak.. troubleshooting for myself.. There is a avi file or 2 that doesnt show up properly in the preview window..So i wil retry tonight without those 2 titles.. Those error msgs from VLC player in my last post.. are all from the first title... not the main menu.. so not sure what that means... all the vob's in the video_ts folder have their respectable file sizes , depending on how long they are, and they all work, except the main video_ts.vob Also the directory has a MENU_SNAPS folder.. which usually doesnt show up there.. right alongside the video_ts and audio_ts folders. Also inside the video_ts folder, there is a Muxer.Tmp TMP file with 0 bytes also... Anyone know what any of this means? Any experience troubleshooting these?
I could use Nero Vision, but everytime i use a video instead of a still picture for my menu background, Nero Vision crashes. I cant find any other programs that allows you to have video for a background.. as thats the major difference between diff authoring software from what ive seen. Dvdflick.. Total Video Converter..TheFilm Machine... ImTOO Dvd Creator...DVD Styler... some others i may have forgotten.. None of them allow for video backgrounds.. which is the only thing im really wanting the most, any of them can make dvds, but hardly any allow for video menu backgrounds..bummer really...
yeah i figured they were..temporary.. and they disappear once the convert finishes.. its weird the 1 attempt said convert complete while another attempt said convert failed Anyways... So ive been using vlc player to open up the files.. all the _0.vob's are chapter menus all the _1.vob's are the actual titles for example.. VTS_01_0.VOB is title #1's chapter menu ----------and VTS_01_1.VOB is title #1 So, with no main vob to use them,(aka..a main menu), how do i do this? Can i make a custom dvd menu for these files? I am using video for my main menu background too... What other programs allow for video main menus?
so... does anyone know why its not working? Ever since i originally updated, ive been getting error msgs galore
Did you try my previous advice: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/670624/4097437 ? Did you try the conversion on a different machine? Providing the conversion log always helps.
oh yeah.. ive used vsocleaner multiple times..with multiple versions of convertXtoDvd also use ccleaner and agp cleaner on a regular basis wish i didnt update to begin with.. worked fine with the old version.. i wish i remembered which version that was.. It would be the latest/newest version with the old black logo.
Once again. Please provide conversion log: Help menu -> Open Log File. Copy and paste the contents between the report session: ********** Report session closed contents of the conversion log that has the error ********** Report session started

That's not the complete conversion log. Please post again. What's the modified date for swscale.dll? Seems like this file is corrupt!? Try a conversion using No Menu template. I think the problem happens when CXD tries to generate menus.
this was the original post... a currupt version of dwscale.. yeah i actually googled the file.. in hopes of getting a new one... no dice i'll try converting with no menu template
If you are using windows xp, you might want to disable the "thumbnail" folder display. (it doesn't sound related, but when I had problems converting avi's to dvd, that was causing my computer/explorer to hard crash everytime). You might also want to do a scandisk(with fix all errors block checked) on the harddrive/partition where your input video files are located. Sometimes moving your input video files to another partition will fix the problem. Description: When opening/accessing folders with movie files in them, windows explorer (the desktop) crashes. Problem: This is a known issue with Windows XP's braindead video thumbnail thing in Explorer. Being a thing invented by MS, it's buggy and doesn't always know how to handle things not supported by MS, and occasionally fails on things it does know how to support too. Every now and again it will crash and take Explorer down with it. Easy to solve thankfully. Solution: Windows XP: * Go to Start -> Run... and type regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll Press enter. Done. It's as simple as that. If you, for some reason want it back, simply do the same thing again, but remove the "/u". That is: Start -> Run... regsvr32 shmedia.dll
