No, you do have to be hooked up to the internet through a router. It will not work wireless...................yet. You can use XE102's or hard wire it into your router. here are several bridges that will work, I just mentioned those two, because I use them. Very easy to set up.

There is all the info you need at bindepot.

I have a card slot in mine, just a place for dust to get in.

Does anyone specifically know of someone who got in trouble using an nf**** or is it just something to worry about the possibility of?

I have the 6100 and find it is pretty much the same as the 6000.
The changed the name of a couple terms.
Database or Factory Reset on the 6000
Factory Restore I think it is on the 6100

Guess you haven't been reading. LOL
There were about 6 other brands with updates before the Viewsat.
Viewsat came out with updates about 1-2 hours after the first update came out.

But you still got fantastic and timely support.

No - you just need your modem and router on which normally is left on all the time anyway.

I can't confirm it, but I think you are safe with Coolsat receivers as long as it is 6100 or higher model.

I think that Coolsat dropped the support for the 4,5,6 several months ago, but nobody will say so. Because of all the clones, I think Coolsat told NORW to drop all support and just continue with the higher models.

I think an amateur group of coders took over the 4,5,6 support and that's why the 4,5,6 bins were so slow to come out over the past several months.

F2atv keeps saying that the new coders are on vacation in Europe, but I think the new coders quit and everyone is to find a new coder to continue the support.

That's why they won't say there is no more support. They are probably trying to find someone to take the job.

Of course this is only my opinion and with the C/P I posted earlier, it to mentioned more than 1 group of coders for Coolsat brand.

Look it up and check the specs.

It's your descision to make, but the coders for the 6100 and up are not the same as the coders for the 4,5,6 models.
You will notice that the Coolsat updates for the 6100 and up, have been out in less than 24 hours the last several times.

    Haven't heard of anybody yet.

Nfusion also allows for a proxy setup which is also supposed to give you added protection. But I was told that on the Nfusion forum, the proxy servers also keep logs. So when you choose a proxy server, you should pick one in a foreign country with very loose laws.

    LOL

Watch people sell their receivers with an ad like this:

For Sale: A new Viewsat 9000HD $439.99 - Free gift: Used Coolsat 5000

Your guess is as good as anyone elses.
Coolsat and others will not give us an update.
    Either positive or negative.
    Any news would be nice.

Coolsat 5000 sucks and so do the decoders who apparently have all gone on vacation.
