Maybe get a 50% reibursement from them. Let's take them to court for all this time without free tv.

Coolsat doesnt care about your letter or the support or lack of it. The 4/5/6 has been divided from the main company to not a 3rd party but now a 4th party. This is why we all wait to see what happens. Again if your cs4/5/6k are your ONLY source of entertainment go to your local sat shop or go online with a vendor in your area an buy a basic stb for 80-100 until the dust settles, its really just that simple. Think of it as TV instead of a saturday dinner out with the family

Read more posts in other forums eg. xxx.bindepot.ca and make your own assessment.

Already bought I vs just waiting for it. I had to give up on coolsat. Instead of a letter I'm going to hang up the box on my wall. It has been oficially retired and I don't think its coming out of retirement.

Big text first, small in the second.

    Let me repeat that:
There is no FTA box, that can come even close, on the market with Coolsat 5000 hardware capabilities. (besides CS 6K).
There are so many new, FTA receivers made after CS5K, but none came even close to hardware ability to this box (voltage control, switch control, scan options, satellite banners, scan speed, motor control, etc).
There is no FTA box and there was no FTA box that can match all of this performances. In FTA word this was, is, and will be receiver #1 for long, long time.
But, bin is another question and makes me sad to say, probably more important than hardware capabilities. But, than again, we are going into hacking waters which is completely deferent world than FTA

Very well said, too bad they dont realize this stb's importance to thrive and buy new. Even if CS divided support and seperated 4/5/6 from 61/7/71/8/81 it still bears their name and this has now backfired. Potential happy customers with 4/5/6 looking to upgrade, pass on to family and friends and basic word of mouth recommendation will no longer advise for CS, they will now goto SV,PS and VS. So they lost all that biz by selling out older models support. EVERYONE i have communicated wont touch a 61 up CS for fear when the newer models come out they also will be left behind. Sad but there is lost business and if they only realize the mistake now we can put this 1 month hiatis behind us and continue with top notch support and the best featured box (which i still love)

So, i don't mind sitting around waiting for a bin for maybe a week or two, but do I understand that the CS5k will be totally obsolete down the road? New at this and not mad, just kind of want to hear from the experts. i know they are only your opinions so don't worry, i won't "do anything to myself" if the news is bad. JJ. I love the whole fta game, and will continue to play it, just depends on which receiver i get. I think I will stick it out with the 5k for a bit though. what do you folks think? Thx in advance ladies and gents.

You can wait if you choose, or buy a second receiver. Using multiple brands helps in a way, one will always have an update before the other, where using the same brand, your updates usually come at the same time, so your not gaining. If one brand went out of business, having the same brand leaves you with nothing where multiple brands leaves you with 1 working unit.
