Coolsat 5000 Questions PART 2

Do you guys recommend any other good FTA sites? I've heard of these so far:

i heard the PRO is discontinued

 

I would stay away from totalfta. They were hacked and taken over. Nobody knows who is running the place, but from what I understand the database and server were compromised.

 

My VS platinum is still working thank goodness, but when we get switched over to nagra 3 what will have to happen in order for me to watch? Will I have to buy an Nf, or are there ways to upgrade and will I have to change my dish location? I am confused with the switch to nagra 3! Thanks in advance.

 

The switch to Nag 3 shouldn't require new receivers, at least not at first. FTA may go black for a somewhat longer period until the encryption is compromised by the coders. From what I have read on NAG 3 so far, some of the sequence is already known and some forums say it won't be a big deal. Its hard to say until Nag 3 goes completely active. They said FTA was dead when NAG 2 became operational and we are still watching TV.

As of today it along with the 4k and 6k are no longer getting support. We are all in the same boat. many people have decided to buy other brands (as why would anyone want to buy a CS if they can just drop the support of their most common receivers?).

After I wrote this I was reading up and discovered just that. I didnt realize that the switch to nagra 2 didnt have any effect. This is promising.
The reason I ask is that i will be buying a new receiver and it will probably be Nf as I have not heard of anything bad with the exception of the PVR, which my cpu would not be able to handle.

hey guys I live in northern california and i have a question is it posible to get globecast programing with the dish antenna and a coolsat 5k

 

At this point, I don't think you get anything with a cs 5000k.

I just got off the phone with a FTA supplier in California he told me that coolsat is out and that they have all ready shut down there warehouse in Canada. They are also taking off all coolsat from there website no longer going to carry them at all !!!

 

Is that all coolsat's or just the 4 5 and 6's

 

all of them Coolsat is going out of bussines! Hey this is what this salesman said I dont know for sure but why would he lie if hes selling them and now taking them all coolsats off his web site

 

Yes you can get GC, but not with a coolsat. GC has no ecm's in stream. But CS cant get unscrambled signal. nFusion can get GC.

 

Well you better phone that supplier up and tell him he has his info wrong. The Canadian warehouse/supplier for Coolsat is still up and running and everything is still on their website. They offer all units form 6100 up to the 8100.

 

Their website is still kicking with no signs of chapter 11

In which sat can you get GC???

I'm still waiting for my nfu**** but mexican efficiency is kind of... inexistent... It was supposed to get here on friday but no sign of it yet...

 

you need a bigger dish at least 36 inch because of the signal most of the are true free to air about 20 different languages.gc a lot of those are commecial channels
