Coolsat 5000 Questions PART 2

Is that what I am supposed to do before I disconnect evrything and connect to my pc to upgrade the Bin?

 

I would go into menu and perform the database reset, will ask you, you are about to DELETE all your channels, press yes to continue. Do that, un hook, load 100, un hook and back to tv, perform another factory database reset, back to computer load 172 then go back perform a factory database rest then scan all your sats. This should clear your eeprom

 

Also try clearing nvram.
Try forced load.

 

A month or so back, I posted the driver and Radio Shack cable # that
I use to get the 5k up (serial to USB)

From reading the posts above I must have a problem with the 119 side of my dish pro. I have the SV connected to this side and the signal is real low around the 100 to 112 range, and not too strong in the 200-300 range. The quality is great on all channels. For the last two evenings, around 4:00 pm EST, I lose the channels 100, 112, 118, and others that I didn't right down. With a "no signal" message. I can go into my other room where the CS is connected to the 110 side of the LNB and all the channels are there. I think I'll switch them out and see what happens with the CS on the 119 side and see what happens around 4:00pm tomorrow.
Would this be a good way to test the LNB? I guess one side could be bad and the other one good! Any comments is appreciated.

Now, seriously, there are really at least two kinds of coolsts. The 4/5/6 k and the newer ones. They work diferently and the are supported by differente groups of programmers. So...

In any case, you should look at the bindepot.ca archives as you will be able to find very useful information on every coolsat model.

hello i got soming i donot understand my autoroll is on and my ms5000 doenot change keys but my tv still runny strange.

 

thx for all your help lately people. hey quick question. would it make sense to have a cs5k and a cs6k in case one or the other goes down? or do they go down at the same times? which fixes are normally out faster?? i have cs5k and like it when it works. just trying to hedge my bets. there is a 6k for sale where i live for $100. or should i get one that is a different brand? also, how bout some feedback on a viewsat extreme receiver?? there are some of those around for sale too and i want a second receiver. thx in advance all you beautiful fta homeys!!! go habs.

Mine is up, never went down, even as reported on n******forum

 

The bin will autoroll keys when needed, if you have TV the keys do not require rolling at that point.

 

If you already have a 5k i would get anyone from 61 and up as they are different coders and strongly supported 4/5/6 are all in same boat.

 

All receivers go down at the same time. A coolsat 6000 for $100? Too much. Honestly, I wouldn't pay anymore that $40-50 for it now. It's a discontinued unit and we never know when support will end.
Having a different brand is helpful. At least one brand should have an update quicker than the other.

 

Very true, read back a few pages and there is a link to a website that gives FTA stb status, review during next few ECM's and see which stb has greatest support
