You could use a dongle instead of the bins, though.

Ask Bill. He can tell you. :)

Here's a little news flash sent to me:

    C/P

Coolsat camp in disaaray // 2008-04-17

Coolsat owner Eric is in a tug a war with the coders (specially the older model 4000, 5000 and 6000 receivers), this is all about the new dongle they are trying to introduce so the receivers can be turned into IKS (Internet Key Sharing).
It looks like the coders have upper hand at this point, they are delaying / holding off the bin releases and have Eric as a hostage at this point, it looks like if Eric does not listen to them on the release of the dongle they will release the bins under different group and have most of the old receiver customers relying on them, once that is accomplished they will introduce the dongle and have all the sales in their pocket.
Let us see how this power struggle plays out.

Yea, usually not a problem with the Viewsat files except small glitches on occasion. The coders say this was a somewhat harder encryption so it may take the other brands slightly longer with the new bins.

I contacted someone about dongle use on Viewsats to see what he had to offer. His answer is posted below. I can't tell you who sent it but the info he added will be of interest to everyone. Please take it as a rumor for now since no one can confirm it at this time. He didn't say I couldn't post it as a rumor. Hope you can understand it.

    Jerry my friend,

Long time since last we talk. I think some about your question of dongle use on your Viewsat.

With correct bin in Viewsat, dongle probably work OK. I give you information not out yet sent

to me. Just rumor maybe but I think true. DN worry big time about dongle upgrades to FTA. Now

asking for USA gov to help track offshore server connection when back in USA. Just like we talk

about NF year ago. Then IKS not big problem, now IKS getting bigger with dongle too. I say to you

again like I say year ago. Stay away from IKS. You know my reason.

You still try codeing or no?

We always need more help my friend. Will be good hear from you any time.
