Only news is that it's getting tiring seeing "Any News Yet?" several times a day. If you read back like you said, you would see no mention of new bins.

Be patient or consider moving to a new receiver.

Hey guys. Hows it goin? I have a question about the "Dongle". I read that it is like the nfu***n and that it needs to be hooked to the internet. Does it not still need a bin that it gets from the web, or is it like a mini computer that cracks the code by itself? If the cs 4,5,6K do get this dongle will it not still need the code to be craked? Just wondering. Sorry that was more than one question:)

Dongle is seperate hardware you put between the cs5k and the Internet Connection and it requires a Dongle bin then uses an IKS type system to update similar in concept to nF******

Hey Blank. Thanks for the info. I was just reading in the CS 6100 thread that Breck set up the Dongle on his 6100 but there are a few bugs to be worked out. Is there any news or rumors about the dongle for the CS 4,5,6K yet.

The Dongle itself is avaiable but i am unsure if the supported bins are out yet...LOL check on bindepot if they are out they are there. The cost is 90.00 for that you can buy a VS lite and be mostly up, your choice.

I think coders are needed to update the IKS servers, but needed less.
They will also be releasing update bins for dongle users later on.
Mostly things to improve the performance and probably some new menu options.
But with a dongle, it will be alot of less work on our end.

I had the dongle hooked up and all the channels were good except a bit of freezing on the XXX channels.

The true test will be when the next ECM change comes and we can see if it stays up. I have it disconnected right now and put it back upstairs, but when the next ECM hit comes, I am going to bring it downstair and set it up to see if it works well.

I have been reading all of your wisdom since August and appreciate the knowledge you have. I have had a cs5000 for about 6 months and the picture quality is outstanding. I added a second one and the only difference was the channel numbers but the quality of the picture was equal. Like everyone else it is too long a wait for bins. Does the Viewsat Ultra have the picture quality of the cs5000?
    Thanks in advance.

I have not seen the picture quality of the cs5, but I do have a vs ultra. The picture is very good. I use it when I'm home on a plasma, it's better that cable. Very easy to set up and has fixes very fast.

I am running out of 2 cents, but here is another. Just mine.

The lite is suppose to be a Platinum version with less extra features (missing things like the card slot). I have the Platinum and picture quality is excellent so if the main part of the receiver is still like the Platinum I would guess the picture would be good. I was going to buy a LITE but I'm waiting to see what happens with FULL NAG 3.

Jerry, If I change to Viewsat from Coolsat do I still have to move my dish around or do they have the same settings for the coolsat?
