Because the site is fairly new, there is still a lot of info missing.
That's why we rely on members to post any info that may be of help to others.

WOW, I think someone actually heard me, this is eerie and odd but:
    C/P
    BRACE YOURSELVES:

    COOLSAT 4/5/6 news...brace yourselves

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cut and paste but from a reliable source

    CoolSat upgrade program

We are proud to introduce an upgrade program for the older CoolSat 4000/5000/6000 STB’s that we can no longer get parts to fix. Send you’re none working box in for an upgrade.

Effective immediately you can trade your old stb in for an upgrade to a CoolSat 6100 by sending in your old box and $79.00 U.S Dollars.

Any repairs that your stb may need for the 2 years will only cost $10.00 U.S Dollars for shipping back to you. You will need to fill out an rma and attach a copy of the upgrade paper work for repair work.

This warranty is only good for upgrades for all others the standard warranty applies.

We do apologize for any inconvenience having to upgrade has caused and hope that you choose to buy CoolSat for your future purchases. We are trying to be responsible for our promise to our loyal customers.

This warranty is only good for boxes with the original factory software on it as we do not support any 3rd party software and not for clones of our equipment.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Quote:
I can tell you if you have a clone then please do not tell them when you fill out the paper work because they are just going to crush whatever comes in without bothering to look at it, But I am not suppose to tell you that part lol..

Also no dealers will be able to offer you this it only works thru the importer.
Coolsatusa.com has the link to the Canadian site.

As of 11pm PST May 17th, the link was apparently not up yet.
    Expected soon though.

If its true, not really a customer service stragety, send the box and 79.00 for a 6100? Keep the box if they are only going to give 10 or 20 credit and move on. If they asked for 79.00 + box for lets say 7100 then that the right move.

    F-(k them!

We're supposed to give them more money so that they can stop supporting the 6100 also?

This is a cut and paste from "The Boss (Blind Scan)" on Coolsat's own F2ATV site. The replies to this post on F2ATV are right on target. The replies say that people no longer trust Coolsat and will never buy another one and they are saying it right on Coolsat's website without fear of retribution of being barred from the site because they don't care. Coolsat made a big mistake by trying to force people to spend more money and upgrade by abandoning the 4000, 5000 and 6000's. Upgrading for $79.00 to a 6100 with a return of your now unsupported receiver is really a ridiculous attempt by Coolsat to try to repair the very bad marketing decision they made because they now are seeing the backlash. Because of this very poor decision, Coolsat probably will not make the same mistake again by abandoning the later models like they did with the older ones, but even if they have learned and don't make the same mistake again, they're not getting one red cent from me again, period. I've been trying to warn people about this for months but each time I said it I was the "Coolsat Basher" who didn't know what I was talking about. OK, no problem. Breck, you out there somewhere?

I now have 3 paperweights that were usable Coolsat receivers but will remain paperweights because I'm not going to upgrade for $79.00 or for one cent! Coolsat will have to pay me to upgrade to another Coolsat receiver because there are many alternatives that have not and will not be abandoned, at least not in a reasonable amount of time. Coolsat thought they were slick, but they just slicked their selves right out of the market. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a calculated decision to try to make some more money before they cut and run because of the lawsuit against Freetech. If that happens even the newer model owners will get screwed too - only time will tell.

Oh yea, one more thing. Do you know why Coolsat (NORWGROUP) wants your 4000, 5000 and 6000's back for a $10 or $20 credit for a 6100? Why would they want those unsupported receivers back? It's not because of repair parts like they say in that post about returning them for a credit of $10 to $20 on a 6100 - anyone can find a 20 cent resistor anywhere no matter if it is 10 ohms or 10 megaohms. A friend I know on the inside told me. They want these receivers back because they still are usable receivers provided a usable bin is made for them. Once a new encryption is introduced (a new ECM), the decryption is the same for all receivers, it doesn't matter if it's a Coolsat 4000, a 7000 or a 100000 or even a different brand because they ALL have the same microchip that decrypts the encryption. Different brands even sell the decryption code once it is known to other brands and that's why after 2, 3, or 4 days after a blackout it seems that everyone gets it all at once and the bins start coming out all within a couple of days of each other. The only limitation is the memory in the receiver and the 4000, the oldest model, still has enough memory to work. They want these receivers back because they'll have a stock load of usable receivers to hand out for free to themselves and their friends. The bins for them will be provided offline, not available to the public like you and me, and they're gonna watch free TV on receivers that they didn't pay for, but instead we paid for them. So, Coolsat and their friends want to watch free TV on our dollar, and they want us to cooperate?

What's so bad about agreeing with me if I'm right? I've been saying this for months. It's ok if you don't want to admit to agree, but I am glad you have seen the light.

Is it not the consensus here that Coolsat doesn't deserve another penny of our money? I close my case.

Viewsat Ultra is a much better stb than the lite that i believe is discontinued but i wouldn't invest in an expensive alternative until after n3 but if you can get a decently priced ultra i would recommend. Just a reminder for anyone who remembers before 2006 blackout which 2 company paved the way to encrypt n2?

    Pansat and Viewsat,

    Cheers.

Pansat and Viewsat were not the first 2 to DECRYPT Nagra2 - you don't encrypt an encryption, you break an encryption by decrypting it. They bought the code or got it free over the web from a company in California called NDS Group Americas. NDS Group Americas was in competition with NagraStar LLC for the encrytion for DN. NagraStar won the contract and NDS broke Nagrastar's Nagra2 encryption and published it on the web to show that it wasn't secure - that's why we have what we have now. DN and NagraStar sued NDS, won and was just awarded a $1500 judgement. Wow, big bucks!

Need help on 91&82. I set up another dish with dishpro LNBs, and a Dish 500 dish. Strength on 91 is 76 with quality of 97. Strength on 82 is 73 and quality of 49.
I scanned both sats and brought down the channels. 91 works great, 82 don't. Would adjusting the skew help with 82? If I do change it, will I have to adjust the elevation also? Hope someone can help with this. I know Blnk, Bill, or Breck can, or maybe someone else that gets B*v could help with this problem. My cable runs about 150 feet from the dish to the receiver, but 119 and 110 both work on the other dish, so assume its in the setup of the 91 and 82 dish.
