Hey,
I have a couple of questions.
I have my coolsat 5000 box.
I have my laptop.
I have my USB to Serial Port.
and my rs 232
I have the file to unzip the bin files.
but i still can find a way to connect the usb to serial port to the rs 232? can someone please explain to me how i can do that?

Not a problem. I am trying to get some answers fro Blank now. There is a new bin out for it, lets you do all kinds of things. Has a few suggestions what you can do with your coffee table, besides serve coffee on it.

Not real sure what problem you are having. Do you mean you can't actually hook the serial cable to the usb adapter?? I think there are 2 types of usb to serial adapters---male and female. If the serial end of the adapter looks the same as the cable you have the wrong adapter. If thats the case, they should make another connector to join the same type ends together or if you can exchange it, get the other adapter from what you have.

Thanks Bill, didn't know the new bin was there. I thought is was suppose to automatically notify when a new bin is available. Didn't get the notification but got the new bin. It set everything back to null and required reconfiguring and scanning of the sats. The new bin put in a new menu option for a proxy server and something about a webloader??? Don't know what the webloader thing is about yet but all is working well with the new bin. Thanks.

 

From what I understand the web loader will alow you to get the new updates and load them on your computer and they will then go straight into the box. Probably wrong, but it's supposed to tke less that 2 seconds.

Do you know where to go to get the matchbox info?

Lots of questions ask and they tell you what has to be done. Lots of information there. Can be scary, but if ou read long enough, it ain't so bad.

I started reading the thread about the new bin this morning and didn't get finished. They were posting questions faster than I could read. I will go back tomorrow and catch up, maybe by then people will have slowed down and I can pick thru the many double and triple posts.
