Coolsat 5000 Questions PART 2

I have 80 channels of cable also so fta isn't my only source of TV. I also have a good antenna system as a fail-safe and belong to Netflix. I only watch a few hrs of TV at night or on weekends if the weather is bad. All this stuff is to keep the wife happy. I'm in deep trouble if they ever cancel her soaps.

Thanks Jerry that answered my question also. I guess all we can do is wait and hope the coders get a fix quick.

 

I'm sure they are aware of all the complaints. Its possible they think another ECM will hit soon so instead of trying to debug this bin, they may be thinking they will have to write a completely new bin for a new encryption stream. Again, this is a complete guess on my part and I have no information to back this. I'm just trying to think as they might be thinking.

Hey Jerry. I know this is kind of late in the game to be asking this question, but what does ECM stand for? and how do you know when there is a new one?

Thanks tf, like everyone else when i started this hobby i knew nothing. In the beginning all the info was intimidating but i assure you by trial and error and reading you will get there. Start installing the systems like i did and you get a whole new knowledge about not only how hardware works but why. Then you can troubleshoot yourself!

Suggestion: 1. Get a book and read 2. Go out and play in the snow. 3. Switch to your alternate tv backup and wait on a new bin.

 

Seriously its going to take a new bin. I'm not bashing cs, but cs is my secondary receiver now to be used in my guest bedroom. I get the feeling that the coders know that a new EMC is coming and they are going to wait for that to hit, then do a new bin.

 

There is nothing that can be done prior to the ECM, they must take apart each bin and if you can imagine re-puzzle it to fit the current signals. Example, sending signal in Arabic and your receiver understands Italian. So then they need to disect the italian and make it understand Arabic. Sometimes quick, sometimes not.
