Hi Everyone, Newbie here. I've always read the posts and goten all the answers to any questions I might have so I never joined...You are all great. I have a question, a couple of days ago we had severe storms here in florida and the winds were really bad. I think it moved our sat, however my hubby beleives the box (coolsat 5000) is dead, nothing comes out on the tv even though the box changes channels the screen is blank and doesn't even say "no sat signal" does any of you experts have any idea what it might be?

With a storm, there is always the chance of a power surge. If dish was moved or wire broke, I would think you would still get no signal message. Any chance, water shorted something out like the lnb or wire which in return shorted the receiver?

Just keep running some tests and see if you can get something.
Do you get any signal or quality in the menu?

Laughing at the other persons response.
GC is another sat provider I guess.

Nothing at all, I've even tried to reload the bin and still nothing. I don't know what else we can do to figure out if it is shot.

If your not getting signal or quality, might want to inspect all the cables and connections.
Check the lnb - we had someone who's lnb was cracked and had water in it. He replaced it and was back up.
Try re-aiming the dish. Bad winds may have shifted it.

The first and formost troubleshooting i would do is see if the stb has power ie.. power light turns on, if so it is a connection to video problem where i would turn off the stb from the back, unscrew the coax lnb lead to the back of the box, then change the DiSEqC switch or if its a dplnbf the sw21 switch inside might be fried (i would replace that lnb anyway they are too specific in the combo you can use later to expand your system) If the 4x1 switch doesnt work its time to trouble shoot further. Is the system grounded?

May not be shot, maybe a cheap 5 dollar DiSEqC switch or a 20 dollar lnb

for the people asking about globcast :most of the channels are on 97.0W a lot of true fta plus you have some east european channels ,asians ( indian, pakistani, afghani etc.....) some faith channels( bridges, peace noor,etc......) a lot of bolywood movies and American, arabic channels and some hebreu channels and by the way you need 36 inches dish
