They are brands/models that are reported as not available for purchase any longer.

Support is still there, just indicating which units can't be bought anymore.

Could be down still, but there are people getting in as CS6100-8100, CW, and a whole list of others have their bins out. And people have posted them some time today on various other sites.

Well, looks like support for CS 4,5, and 6 is back to their normal procedure. They must think we will all trash our 5's and purchase one of the newer models that they support and get a fix out first?

    thay is unfair

Agree it is unfair, but there is nothing we can do about it. If I see that they are totally not supporting the older models, I won't be purchasing their newer models. I will go with another brand. I know for a fact that their 8000 model is junk. I have a friend who has one and it need all kinds of fixes that they are not providing.

You and everyone else. It stands to reason that one day soon the 6100, 7000, and 8000 models will also be their "old" models, and the support for those will be slow just like the support for the 5000 is now.

When some friends and I were looking to purchase a receiver a little over 2 years ago, we were told that cs5k was the way to go, and so we didn't even consider any other receiver. How many people now are being told that cs8k is the way to go?

They have in the past provided updates for the older models before the newer ones. It's never the same each time. If they can figure out the coding faster on one or the other, then it gets released sooner. It's nothing to do with new or old. It's on the ease of cracking the code for the new update. The 8000 and 8100 got their updates almost 2 weeks after the other back in Jan/Feb.

    LOL

Everyone will be looking for the higher model numbers in time.
What is it? 2011 or something like that when everything is to be totally converted over to HD? These plain jane models will be obsolete.
