"whats the difference between DVD-Rom and DVD+R? If I change it from DVD+R to DVD- ROM what exactly is it doing?"

This was question. Nothing more nothin less. I like to learn and by learning you ask questions. Maybe you should get a life Mort and you wont get so stressed out from a Afterdawn thread.

Oh yeah it is a newbie forum, thats right.

    Adouble11,

    Changing the booktype field

This booktype field identifies the disc as either a DVD-ROM, DVD+R(W) or a DVD-R(W) disc and is for a big part responsible for the compatibility. Because this setting is overwritten during the DVD-R production process it can’t be modified afterwards, the laser of your DVD recorder simply can’t write to that part of the disc. During the production of DVD+R discs the space is untouched. Still CSS keys can’t be written to DVD+R discs because every DVD recorder and DVD player has a limit in its firmware to write or read to this space. However, there is no limit for writing the booktype field. Therefor a DVD+R(W) recorder will be able to modify this field by sending a command to the DVD recorder and fool the DVD player.

When the booktype field (bitsetting) is changed to DVD-ROM then DVD players are fooled and will think the user has put in a DVD-ROM disc instead of a DVD+R disc and will read it accordingly. This results in an increased chance that the player is able to read the disc and that’s why the ability to change the booktype field (bitsetting) is essential to a lot of users. Certainly owners of a DVD player that requires this field to be set to DVD-ROM, in order to work properly, will prefer a DVD recorder that supports setting the booktype field.

I gave you a link to answer this question twice.

I am sorry I have tried to help you. It won't happen again after that remark. People like you ruin it for the rest of us. When I was learning I was appreciative of the help I received and never spouted off. I already appoligized for my lack of patience and that was uncalled for. I've already showed you how to booktype dvd+r/rw media to dvd-rom to increase compatability and can't unshow you how unfortunately. If I could I would. Good luck. Hope I have helped overcome your compatability problem. Mort out.

Adouble11, I highly suggest against anymore uncalled for remarks like that. Mort apologized for his impatience and that should've been the end of it.

Sorry about that....It didnt look like his apology was directed towards me, but rather towards "alkohol"...could have been a mistype.

That was directed towards everybody in this thread. Sorry I ever got involved in this one. I'll mind my own beeswax and refrain from trying to help as much or at least find some that are more grateful and apreciative of the help and acquired knowledge.

    @Mort81,

It's ok... I know how you feel. You don't need to apologize or anything. It's just that I wasn't sure what you meant and I was a bit confused that's basically. Perhaps, I did not comprehend it as clearly to what you really mean. But anyways, it's ok for me. I know you've been helping a lot of newbies tons and tons and hundreds of times before, yet them (newbies) won't listen to what was suggested, instead they'll just keep on asking another question. I know exactly what you mean and feel now.

I've had replied to a few threads in the past where the original poster asked for helps, and gave him/her the advice and yet he/she refused to follow. In addition, sometimes he/she would just never replied it back and I'm wondering what's going on, but that's ok. I guess that's another story because it is obvious that I'm here to learn as well.

Hope you feel better now alright.

Thanks gents for the support. You know what it's like sometimes. Been there, done that. I like you really enjoy teaching and learning here. I've been in several threads here lately where I provided links to pages to answer questions and the poster ask the same question again like they basically ignored or didn't fully read the info I provided or I will ask for some info from them about there system, media, or proggys used so I can better understand their situation and circumstances and they refuse to supply me with the info or only provide part of it. I guess they don't realize we need them to help us to help them.

Thanks again and again sorry to everybody for my lack of patience. It's nice to know there are some that appreciate our help or that we at least try to help. I'll just wash this bad taste out of my mouth and carry on.

    Mort

You think because somebody asks questions that is a bad thing? Read the thread, what did I do that was so terrible for guys to cry about it? Are you trying to help? because if you were why would you get mad because questions were being asked? You've been writing Afterdawn threads all day and you are stressed out because people are asking questions...you know how ridiculous you sound? Dont even respond to this.

@Adouble11 - come on now, pls call it a day now.

.....i've been helping you over here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/229895 - instead of having another go at my buddy mort81 five or six hours after his last reply you could have calmed down and replied to the Nero log. i'm certainly not trying to make this worse; many of us are here virtually every single night and we all get tetchy (even i'm known to bite!), but replies like this just make it worse.

    pls let's leave it there...??....
