When copying a movie using DVD Shrink 3.2 I have only a single DVD writer (Plextor 708A). The movie is written to hard disk, and then goes from hard disk to be written on the blank DVD. Even when using 8X Ridata disks, the write speed never seems to get above about 2X! Is there some way to set DVD Shrink 3.2 so that I can achieve the full writting speed that my Plextor drive can handle? I have gone back to using Shrink 3.1 and then writting from the hard drive to disk using "Copy To DVD" which gives me the full Plextor writting speed. Any help with Shrink 3.2 would be appreciated.

    Hi Jackferg, welcome to aD,

Let's try to lQQk at this -

    1. DVD Shrink can't write to anything. It has no burner.

    2. DVD Shrink ver. 3.2.0.15 can use 3 things to burn:
    a. Nero
    b. DVD Decrypter
    c. CopyToDVD

All of these programs can be set to burn using the check box under the I/O tab Under preferences. and the "Drop-down" list on the "Backup" section of DVD Shrink.

    3.Things controlling DVD Burns:
    a. Burner
    b. Media
    c. ASPI Layer
    d. Up-to-date Firmware
    e. Up-to-date drivers for burner
    f. Correct DMA transfer on the burner's IDE cable
    g. Speed settings on:
    1. Burner
    2. Software

There may be one or even two I missed but these are the most common -

Judging from your post, I would start at "g.".

If you like CopyToDVD (I know I do) then set DVD Shrink to use that burning proggy. "Uncheck" the "Burn with Nero" under the I/O tab and make the proper selection in DVD Shrink's "Backup" section. If you're using another burning proggy, check that application's speed settings before you use it -

    Cheers,

    Pete

    ScubaPete,
Many thanks for your reply. I was wondering about having the "Nero" box checked under the I/O tab. It is now unchecked and on my next movie copy I will go to "CopyToDVD" which has worked faultlessly for me. Again, Many thanks.
