Wow! That was a quick response! Thank you so much! Wish me luck on my adventure! I'm a little confused about some of the steps in modifying, but I've ordered an Xecuter 2.3B Lite Plus and I'm buying an Xbox later this week!
Well good luck in your modding adventure. If you run into trouble, just ask. Im sure I, or someone else here will be willing to give you a hand. Just be careful and take your time, and everything will work out.
Okay, how large should the disc image be for EvolutionX? I found a file called "XBOX EvolutionX Boot CD v1.8.458" and it's about 7.25MB. Is that about right? I used Nero 5. Nero recognized it as an .iso image. I chose the file and Nero burned it to a Memorex CD-RW. It looks like there is a thin band burned on the inner part of the disc. The PC CD-ROM drive shows it as an empty disc, I guess. I know blondes are supposed to be dumb, but I don't expect to be able to "run" it on a PC. But should anything show up as being on the disc? If I made this disc properly and get the "modchip" in properly, the Xbox should recognize/"run" this EvolutionX thingy and then I establish that FTP connection thingy so I can backup the Xbox hard drive? and somehow change the dashboard to that "evoX" I've read numerous tutorials, but I just can't seem to grasp this step. Do I use the FTP program to transfer this new dashboard from the Xbox DVD drive to the Xbox hard drive? Or is it done some other way?? This FTP thing also scares me. I tried to hookup a wireless network in my flat, but I never could get those two computers to talk to each other. I called tech support for help and I guess I'm too dense because my laptop computer and desktop computer aren't on speaking terms. I always thought of myself as a good matchmaker, but am I too ditzy to get an Xbox and a PC talking? Thanks!
Sounds like you got the right image. Usually they add a file called a "fluff file" or "dummy". This is so the xbox recognizes the disc. Some people have complained about their xbox not recognizing the disc without the "dummy" on it. Mine did not need a dummy. Everyones is different. But other than that you pretty much got it down. Now time to get your chiop installed.
er.... ok, this is my first time posting, seems like you guys know what you are doing, i downloaded this "Xbox Ripper", i need to hook up my pc to xbox, then it retrieves the files from my xbox. is this right? i downloaded it from www.x-b-o-x.net i don't know wether this is right, and could you please tell me the next step on how to make backup copies, please.
hi all, newbie here. would like to get a modded xbox, or see if someone here would like to mod the one i have. i work a part time job, and a full time one, so i have no time to sit there with the opened machine, otherwise, believe me, i would. i voided the stupid ps2 warranty, just to see how everything worked on the inside. i'd like to get a bigger dirve in it and whatever i'd need to transfer files back and forth between my pc and xbox pre installed if possible. anyway, if anyone is interested in doing it, let me know what i'd be looking at money wise, or where i could go to get it done. thank you all. -haven sole
Its easy to copy games from your XBOX-console to your pc, you just need a ETHERNET-cable, plug it in your XBOX and in you pc. Then you need to create a network(with windows XP) between your pc and XBOX,so you can transport files from your XBOX to your PC.
Just wondering, if I purchase the Xecuter 2.3B Lite mod chip what size hard drive i will be able to upgrade to. Is this chip worth purchasing? Also, how do you copy games to the Xbox HDD? Thanks Rich
Does anyone have a copy of the EvolutionX software that can be emailed to me at rich-jacksons@knology.net? Thanks in advance Rich
Rich>> EvoX is all over the net now. You'll have better luck findong it there, than requesting files here. Also, HD size doent depend on the chip. It depends on the BIOS on the chip. You need a BIOS that supports LBA48. Also since you will be setting it up new, look for a BIOS ending in .06, not .67. Both of these support LBA48, but one has a larger F and the other has F&G partitions. And finally, read this thread. Most of the info on how to copy games is here.
shank69ox>> Thanks. Another question. Does anyone recommend a specific MOD chip for playing backup games, upgrading harddrive, etc.? Rich
For what you want to do, any modchip will do. So my advice is to look around for different ones, they have different options for advanced users. But they will all do your needs. Then decide which one is best for you. I pesonally have used alot of them, but prefer Xecuter chips. But I install cheapmods(Alladin) in my customers XBOX's.
