    yes CORRUPTION,
    incomplete files, damaged corrupted unuseable,
    unreadable

    gigs of corrupted files,
...and don't talk to me about the backups....
    arrgh...the backups....are the same...
    - at least I could read these backups the last data DVD's were a complete debacle.....

    ok, feeling slightly better now,
wonder what this safety valve is rated to, hope it won't blow...

Yes, corruption should stay in politics (where it belongs).
We feel your pain - but have you yet determined the cause of these unfortunate events...?
    Regards

    hi The_OGS,
My apologies for the absurdly late reply...many reasons...but ain't gonna go there...

I believe the Bios for the PC was not capable of using the 200Gb drive, I've updated this BIOS and so far so good.
I did a major clean of my system, including the 12Gb of 'missing data' on the Hd (someone mentioned this could be part of microsoft's recorded data), reformatted and now have a nice healthy PC

...weeks of replacing files and still finding some corrupt on the backups, I still have to replace these, arrgh......
