Could Not Perform End Of Disc-At-Once Error

Hi ChuckRock,

Your log file indicates the first error message is a 'KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR', which of course causes a write error, wich of course prevents Nero from closing the session and you get the 'Could not perform End of Disc-At-Once' error message.

So the true culprit is the first error message the log file reports, which then cuases a domino effect of error messages.

Do you have the latest firmware for your model recorder?

Have you tried more than one brand of DVD media? Looks like you have Maxel DVD Media, and I've never had good luck with that brand myself, not sure how others have faired. I would suggest trying a different brand of DVD Media to see if your results change.

Thanks for the responses ... I have the latest LG firmware. Tried a SONY DVD-R and works perfectly.

It's weird because I've burner over 30 Maxell before ... maybe I bought on a monday morning or friday afternoon box !

sory for my eng.
i had the same problem: could not perform the end of disc and simular, i lost 7 out of 10 cds.
than i started using other cake box (same brand) and got 50 out of 50 good burns. when i am burning cd or dvd my e-mule is always runing and i am using explorer too.

so i think that bad burns are mostly because of bad cd or dvds

Problem was solved, now what I got is "Focus or tracking error ... " anyone about this one !

I'm trashing more DVDs than what I get burned correctly !

The Focus or Tracking error is another hardware error message.

And the cause is basicly the same.

1) Poor Media
2) Dust on the Media or on the Optical head
3) Old firmware
4) A recorder in need of service. (Optical head needs to be realigned.)

Regarding the LG-4081B DVD-RAM drive, don't even waste your time updating drivers, updating Nero, or installing ASPI layers. The plain fact is that there was a huge batch of these drives (if not the whole series) that were manufactured with very bad quality components (and even worse quality control, if any), and most of them just stop working after a few recordings. It's a HARDWARE issue.

You'll get all kinds of errors when this starts happening, some of which are:

- Focus or tracking error
- Could not perform disc-at-once
- No seek complete
- Internal target error

If your unit is still under warranty, return it to LG as soon as possibly and have them replace it for another model. I couldn't do this here in Brazil because this model isn't manufactured by LG Brazil (I bought it in the USA), and LG Brazil refused to replace the unit. Needless to say that I won't ever again buy another product made by LG.

Hello chums! I have the error --> Illegal disc Cannot stop disc at once.

Reading all of the previous post, I performed/confirmed all of the "basic" procedures before giving up to post for y'alls professional assistance =) (log file is below) -- hope y'all can help

Guys I have the exact problem, I even format my pc, and format the HD, reinstall xp sp2 and reisntall nero, I still got the same error. I even have 2 burners. One a Pionerr dvr 104, and a LG, the error keeps the same on the LG (Could Not Perform Disc at once Error ) and on the Pioneer, comes another totally diferent. Regarding dvd presition. I have burned around 500 dvd-r with the pionner,and a 300 on the LG. I am really desperate to find a fix. Could you plese provide a good BURNER RECIPE.!

Ok, i had the exact same problems. Could not preform end of disc at once, ect. THERE IS A REALLY EASY WAY TO FIX THIS!

1.) Download DVD Shrink http://www.dvdshrink.org/

2.) Downlaod DVD Decrypter http://www.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?act=download

3.) Open up DVD Shrink and slect open files, disc, disc image, ect. then click backup, and backup as an ISO.

4.) Open up DVD Decrypter and select 1.)mode, 2.)ISO, 3.)write and then 4.click the button. and you should have no problems.

Hi Jokkerr,

Do you have the latest firmware for your model recorder? You should also upgrade to our latest Nero 6.6.0.12 if you have not already.

The log file shows an error message as soon as your recorder attempts the first write. I would normally assume this to be caused by poor DVD DL media, old firmware, or old version of our software.
Assuming of course that you do not have trouble creating data CD's and writing to normal DVDs.

Hello,
I am a newbie to the forum, and I too am having the "disc-at-once" error with Nero 6.6.0.13. Can anybody offer any advice?
My "disc-at-once" error comes during the lead-out. I sometimes have success with burning DVD's, but it is sporadic and I usually have to restart my machine and make sure Nero is the only thing running. I have defragmented my machine, and my firmware and ASPI are updated judging from what I've read on previous posts. The jumpers are cleaned out and firmly attached. I am aware that one of the hard drives appears to have DMA disabled. This is not the drive that I am using. Also, I'm using Sony media with a Sony DRU-510A burner. If anybody would mind reading my log I will appreciate it very much.

Thanks for all the great advice! It still didn't work once I updated to the latest copy of Nero...but once I updated to the latest firmware for my DVD Burner...then everything worked great! Thanks for all of y'alls help! =)

Hi Carlsson,

Your log file shows an error message of 'Queue Again Later' which means that a write command was issued to your recorder, but it was busy, and so the command went into a Queue to await for the drive to become ready to accept commands again. But the drive never free's up and eventually it times out with this error message.

This normally indicates the drive has old firmware, trouble with the media being written too, or driver conflicts with other programs.

The fact that you mention a fresh reboot with nothing running in the background causes occasional succes, would seem to indicate you have a software driver conflict.

Do you or did you have any other Recording programs on your system? If you do, I would recommend uninstalling them, and then using the Nero Registry and Driver Clean tool to clean your system, and then reboot and see if this resolves your issues.

Hi there,
After seeing several posts on different boards about this issue, I think that the short answer that no one has posted is that Nero changed the burn size limit. Thus, your media size is too big to complete the burn. You have two easy options to make it work with your current media. Try making the burn size 4300MB in your compression program. Or you might try enabling the over burn feature in Nero.

Hi,
I am a new to this form.
I have got the problem while burning DVD-R.
I have installed the nero software which came form the DVD writter. I installed the I/o Magic DVD writter. At the end of the burn I am receiving the error " could not perform end of disc at once"

I would appreciat if anybody can help.
I contacted the manufaturer. They asked me to return this burner and exchange it with another one. I don't think this is problem with the burner. I think its the problem that it is taking long time burn and I think it is the software.

Hi Birraj,

Acutally, your problem is that you are getting a 'Queue Again Later' error message, as seen from the below excerpt from your log file. This means the Recorder is busy and not accepting any commands from Nero.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I have already updated the new firmware. I tried burning DVD+R through Nero express 2 and it worked fine. I think the nero back up has some problem. I also tried -r and it worked fine through nero express. I also burnt a DVD -R through Nero vision it worked fine. I am also updating my verion of Nero. Let me update once I burn another DVD.

I've noticed a lot of people is recieving a similar problem as myself. I've tried re-installing nero, but I always get that error. I've tried reburning many times and still end up with the error. Here is the saved log, hope you guys can help, thanks
