Ok so I recently built a new system(See Sig) and I can not seem to get past the Disc-at-once part of the CD thus creating several coasters lol....I do not know what the problems is. I am using the same programs as before same cd's....perhaps my drivers are bad for the drivers?? but it burns the data just doesnt finish it. If I explore the coaster I can see all the data but for some reason I am not writing the end of the disc thus creating junk...

    Thanks..

Bumping your thread is against forum rules.

    Enable DMA.
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

Slow down your burn speed to 6x or 8x.

I was unaware that you could not bump...wont do it again! :)

Also..when I go to that link..there are several img's missing..
The 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th ones are the main ones I think..

Also..Does that pertain to SATA as well? and if I uninstall my Primary and Secondary IDE channel drivers it wont affect my RAID will it?

Ok so all I am wondering now is if I uninstall all those drivers and let windows reinstall them will I screw up my RAID 0 array?

So..is anyone going to help me out on this one? still wondering if doing this will mess up my raid....

In my mind, it seams unlikely to affect your RAID setup...
    However, No Promises...

How is your RAID set up... Onboard IDE RAID, Onboard SATA RAID or Offboard...??

Direct Memory Access is generally favourable, anyway...
You may have to stripe them again... If you Striped on a Software Level...

Back up your Data before you try... PCs can always find a way to take up your time... :)

Can someone tell me what the thread bump thing was about, please...

I striped them through the bios. I am using an EVGA-132 mobo and it is an onboard Sata array.....

and another note..when I look at the IDE Properties.. It is showing in both Primary and Secondary Device 0 and Device 1 both having the transfer mode set to DMA if available but under both it is showing the Current Transfer Mode as Not Applicable......Will doing this "unistall" of the drivers cure that and not mess up my raid 0 then??

Did you say your drive is SATA?
it looks like your computer is using an IDE Controller to handle your SATA Drive ?

Also you should update your burner's firmware, there is version 1.09 available.

  17. RGFindlay

    RGFindlay Guest

Yes, you're right... There is no redundancy per se' in RAID 0...
RAID is Redundant Array of Inexpensive Devices called such 'coz dudes like us have to stack up a bunch of devices to make space for all our junk... Hence the reference Redundant Array...

In your follow up there you mentioned the drives were set to use DMA...
This suggests that you need not uninstall the drivers...
The log showed DMA as Off, suggesting maybe DMA unavailable...

I think we should bark up another tree...

    I found that interesting...

The suggested firmware update would be the tree to bark up now...

Also interested in Cyprusrom's question... Is the optical drive also SATA..??

I really don't know about the STA drives and stuff( all your talk about the Raid Redundant Array and stuff makes me dizzy :)).
I was just pointing out something that jumped at me.

Why not uninstall the nVidia driver just for your burner, the IDE,and let Windows deal with it?

  19. RGFindlay

    RGFindlay Guest

It doesn't matter really, I'm just interested...
SATA is an IDE medium (Integrated Device Electronics) - The main controller is on the device...

The problem has me at a loss... I think I may have to give up and hope someone else can help...

Although I use SATA and RAID, I don't use Striping...
As for Striping SATA... Where ya gonna use a 3 - 6 Gb/sec bandwidth unless you're capturing 1280p full frame video..??

I hope someone can help... Hopefully the firmware will do it...

Yes all my drives in my system are SATA :)
I was wondering that as well as to why they are showing up in IDE. I updated the firmware for the Drives (2X)Pioneer DVD-RW DVR216D...also..these are showing up as SCSI CdRom Devices in Device manager..is this correct?
I am now wondering if maybe they have to be set up on certain cables but I was always under the assumption that the satas were just hook em all up and go..basically...Once again..I am ver scepticle of removing my Primary and Secondary IDE Channel drivers as I am running a RAID 0 Array and if I do that I think that windows screw up my OS...lol...

In Device manager everything is saying that DMA is enabled but it saying that under where it says "Transfer Mode: DMA if Available" it says "Current Transfer Mode: Not Applicable" I dont think this is correct and cant figure out how to change it to Ultra DMA if Available.....Once again bringing me back to the whole enabling DMA fix problem..I dont want to, cant mess up my RAID lol..I hate reinstalling everything!
I built this system with 2 identical drives in hopes of not worrying about this type of thing..ha Thanks Microsoft for making my life NOT EASY....

BTW..I am running Windows XP Pro 64bit if that helps anything...here is the latest Log file from yet another FAIL attempt...
