coverting files

I have a .avi movie and i want to make it into a svcd,so it can boot on my dvd player,what toolds do i need and how do i do it?????

 

Many programs can do this (e.g. Winavi).

 

Do you know any free ones?

 

Try DVD2SVCD. Pretty sure that it can use HCEnc or QuEnc for encoding, both of which are free.
