    Does the ATI HD 3870 support both direct x 10 and direct x 10.1? Also, is there much of a difference between both directx versions and will the direct x 10.1 help improve performance and graphics in crysis?

    Directx10.1 smooths out a few things in DX10, not much, but the important thing is that it re-enables Anti-Aliasing, a feature DX10 can't do (the game will either crash or simply ignore the fact that you turned AA on). That's a big advantage in my mind. I hate jagged looking games.

    will the ati hd 3870 dx10.1 card be compatible with direct x 9 cards? Thanks!

    You mean DX9 games? Yes. All DX10 and above graphics cards can render Directx9 fine.

    I have a the EAH3870 ASUS 512mb DDR4 Video card. Should I purchase vista or xp? I am planning to play mostly dx9 games.I have heard many rumours that vista doesnt work too well with dx9 games. Also here are my specs;

    Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula Special edition
    cpu: core 2 quad Q6600
    video card: EAH3870 ASUS 512mb DDR4
    sound card: sound fx 2
    RAM: 3 gb

    That's about the only Vista rumour that isn't true. However, I usually recommend people avoid using Vista if at all possible, it's a nasty OS compared to XP, far slower and believe it or not lacking in several features XP offers.
