so im looking to build my first computer and the only thing im worried about is the whole stepping thing, i want to get this motherboard ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128057 ) and this CPU ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3241546&CatId=2396 ) Does the stepping matter at all? Sorry if its a simple question. thanks
That CPU has G0 stepping. That is your ONLY option so don't worry about stepping because you have no other choice.

Not really since stepping does not affect performance. It does however affect power consumption and ultimately the temperature of the CPU. If you are an overclocker then CPU stepping might be important to you. The E6850, however has only one type of stepping and that is G0. If you were planning to buy the Q6600 then you will have a little more trouble since it comes in two flavors, the newer G0, and older B3 stepping.
