No, it's the hardware that's the incompatibility.

That will only support Pentium Ds, which are an upgrade, but still not ideal.

    A Pentium D is a dual core.
That board will support core 2 duos, but only if it's a certain revision. If it's off ebay you may end up with an early revision board that can't have them (even with a BIOS update)

or would any of these do?
    http://www.pricewatch.com/motherboards/agp_8x.htm

srry its just that i can buy one tomorow and im rushing around trying to find one thats suitable with my parts and a decent dual core.

about that first one, if i got it and a dual core pentium D, what kinda increase of FPS do you think id get with COD4, + the sapphire HD3850 on a 500W PSU :)
    tanks!

That youtube link is for an AMD motherboard, you can get an AMD chip if you liie, but that socket (754) doesn't support dual cores, only single cores, so there's no point.

oh ok, so, wouldnt a dual core intel pentium D be just as good as a dual core cpu?

It is a dual core CPU. I assume you mean would it be as good as a Core 2 Duo. Short answer, no it wouldn't. Nowhere near.

I would certainly recommend a Pentium D over a Celeron D, but your power supply may not be able to take it if it's weak, the Pentium Ds use an absurd amount of power.

You'll have to use ebay, they haven't sold them for quite a while.
